Dubai is already home to numerous attractions that draw thousands of tourists to the city from across the globe each year, but there are always new attractions being developed and opened year-after-year.
With some of the most impressive structures, largest malls, and luxurious hotels in the world, it’s hard to think that anything could out-do the proud BurjKhalifa – the tallest building in the world. However, if you’re planning a family holiday to Dubai this year and are wondering what’s new, here are three great new attractions to put on your list:
Bollywood Parks™ DUBAI
The first park of its kind in the world, Bollywood Parks™ Dubai is a Dubai theme park that includes five different zones offering unique experiences and environments based on and inspired by some of the greatest Bollywood blockbusters. The five zones include: Bollywood Boulevard, Mumbai Chowk, Rustic Ravine, Royal Plaza, and Bollywood Film Studios Featuring Hall of Heroes.
Each zone offers visitors the chance to experience amazing live shows – including the region’s first Broadway-style Bollywood musical at the Rajmahal Theatre where they can explore, shop and eat their way through the authentic ‘streets of Mumbai’.
Dubai Safari Zoo
Set to open later this year, five years after it was first announced by the Dubai Municipality, Dubai Safari Zoo will be located opposite Dragon Mart. The zoo will be home to roughly 350 species of animals, some of which will be rare and endangered. The site will be spread across 119 hectares of land and is said to cost roughly Dhs. 1 billion to build. It replaces what was previously known as the Jumeirah Zoo. All the animals that were housed at Jumeirah Zoo will be moved to the new Dubai Safari Zoo, which will be comprised of a Safari Village, Arabian Village, Asian Village and African Village.
Each of the villages will include unique landscapes that are found on that specific continent, and the park will additionally include a butterfly park, botanical garden, and educational and vet facilities.
The Dubai Frame
Set to open at the end of this year, The Dubai Frame is a gigantic construction project that was selected as the winner of the 2009 ThyssenKrupp Elevator International Award. It will cost approximately Dhs. 120 million to build.
The structure, which is 150 metres tall and 93 metres wide, resembles a huge picture frame and consists of two towers that are connected by a bridge. Once at the top, visitors will be able to see breathtaking panoramic views of the city below, some of which will include Old Dubai on one side and New Dubai on the other. Originally the bridge was meant to be made completely out of glass, but because the developers feared people may be too scared to look down, they installed a 25 square metre glass panel in the middle instead.
The Dubai Frame is set to open towards the end of the year.
Will any of these attractions top the BurjKhalifa? We’re still not sure but can highly recommend you put them on your list of things to see and do during your holiday to Dubai. What we are sure about is that each of them will contribute to more and more travellers visiting the city each year to experience all of the wonders Dubai has to offer.
